2018 Mississippi HOBY Seminar
Friday, June 1, through Sunday, June 3
Millsaps College, Jackson, Mississippi
Stevie Farrar, Leadership Seminar Chair

From left: Coleman Carlisle, Hugh O'Brian, and Nathan Stamper

Registration will begin at 8:00 A.M. on Friday in the lobby of New South Hall and will last until 10:00 A.M. Plan to arrive by 9:30 A.M. to get processed and to the sessions on time. All students must be registered by 10:00 A.M.We ask that you please leave your bags in your car until you receive your room key.

The seminar will conclude following the closing ceremonies on Sunday around 1:00 P.M. If your parents/guardian are not attending the College Financial Aid Workshop or the closing ceremonies, they will need to pick you and your luggage up at the residence hall. Remember - you must attend the entire weekend to participate in HOBY.

You will need to bring casual clothes. The majority of the time we will be inside, and it tends to get cool in the auditorium where we meet. On Friday night, if you choose to attend the dance, whatever you would wear to a school dance is fine. If you wear shorts on Saturday for the volunteer projects, they must be knee length. On Sunday, we ask that everyone "dress up." This means dresses, skirts or nice pants outfits for the girls - no shorts, please. Guys, we won't make you wear a tie and sport coat - no shorts or jeans, though.

You must bring your own linens, pillows, towels, and personal hygiene items. THE COLLEGE WILL NOT PROVIDE THESE. Don't forget your alarm clock! You might want to bring flip-flops for the showers.
